Three Little Bakers
Six months after their professional debut at the State Theatre in Baltimore in 1938-1939, The Acromaniacs hit the big time at the Paramount Theatre, New York City. After a long run at this prestigious theatre, the trio went on to enjoy solid bookings at prominent theatres all over the U.S.
During World War II their careers took a three-year hiatus as all three brothers served in the military. Following their discharge, The Acromaniacs appeared at the Radio Correspondents' Convention at a spectacular event orchestrated for President Truman in Washington, D.C.
Television was the new medium for entertainment and The Acromaniacs appeared on talent showcases with Milton Berle, Jackie Gleason, Perry Como, Sid Caesar, Kate Smith, Dinah Shore, and Mike Douglas.
Tragedy struck when, during a show with Bob Crosby and his orchestra, Nick fell and sustained a serious back injury. The brothers refused a replacement and returned to Wilmington, Delaware, and opened a family baking business. The new venture thrived, and when Nick recovered, the brothers decided to accept limited show business engagements on the East Coast. The baking business evolved into the Three Little Bakers® Dinner Theatre.
